| The weekend, ahh!! |
| 09.30.04 (10:09 pm) [edit] |
|
My goodness, it is great to have finished everything. It is wonderful. :D
I got back from Clinical and Lab yesterday at 4pm totoally and utterly wasted. But I knew I had to start on my Health Science Assignment on Radiotherapy. So I decided to have a power nap for half an hour. Instead I sleep for three and half hours. Insanely crazy. I felt a lot better after it though. I then had to start my assignment. I decided that I would plan to be in bed before 4am because there was so much to do and I would need some sleep. Well, I was in bed by 1:45am. Yeah!!!! It was pretty easy. I am sure I will pass; not certain if I will get any higher but ah well. Pass is all I need.
WE had a class at 8am this morning but do you think I could get up for it. I quickly dashed to KylieAnne's room and asked if I could copy notes from her from the day. I had planned to go to the nedxt class at 9am. But I ended up sleeping in till 10:30am. Ummmm, whoops!!! But it was beautiful. I then handed in my assignment and was having breakfast when Becky came by. She is working this weekend before heading up to the Gold Coast and then working next weekend when she gets back. A wonderfully stressed out holiday but she will get to see Australia a bit.
Now I have DVDs from the library and I plan to just watch them in my room this afternoon to just recover from thjis crazy week. I never thought i could do it but I have. THank the Lord!!!
Have a great weekend and great holidays Avondalians.

Monday, Monday, ...
Ok, I had a Maths Meds exam this morning which I have to get 100% to pass. I didn't so I have to resit it ... that is ok because so does most of the class. I don't mind the drug calculations too much, it is the abbreviations that I don't like that much.
Anyway, had my last two classes of Clinical Practice 2. Yeah, it is over. Wonderful!!!! Now, all I have is the exam. :)
I did my Legal tut with a guy in my class. We were both a bit stressed about time - that we wouldn't have enough stuff for 50mins. Well, we started late, and I talked for roughly 35mins so he only talked for 5mins. I felt terrible. We both had great infromation and stuff; it is just that I didn't give him time to share a lot of his. I was a bit worried about this tutorial as rumour had it that Jimmy Jays is a really hard maker. But we got a Distinction. How crazy and wonderful is that?! :) And since I basically took the entire thing I got a Distinction. Wow!!! I am amazed. One of the hardest questions as well. Discuss the potential conflicts between religions and law of the state or country. Should and does law override religion views? It was so hard and we got a Distinction. I am so happy. WE both were just aiming for pass. And then we got this. I am so happy. :D
I spend the afternoon doing my next tut for wednesday which is on Primary Health Care and Transcultural Nursing. I am basically finished it which is good. I have timed myself and I go for 20mins. This is good as I am doing the tut with two other girls. And for my legal tut I timied myself and I went for 27mins and actually in class I went for 35mins. So I think i should be fine now :)
Tomorrow Kel and I and I am not sure who else are going in to Westmead for Kel's second discogram. Painful.
Then Tuesday night we are having Prayer group in Kel's room as seh will be in bed.
Wednesday is tut.
Thursday is clinical and lab - a long day from 7:30 till 4:30pm. Crazy!!!
Friday I need to hand in my 1000 word essay on Radiotherapy which I haven't even started and so shopping as I am running out of food.
And that is my life at the moment. By the way, you should look up the Voice as they have some cool photos in their photo albums. IT is really cool.

Well, I have a very busy week ahead of me. And I have just had the most tiring weekend. I had a great time at Avondale like always.
But when I got back around midnight I then had to call a friend from Mel and talk to him for half an hour, talk to Kel for half an hour, run around to buy coffee, and then talk to Brandon on the phone for something like three hours and didn't get to bed till 5am!!!!!!!
Insane. I slept into 1pm. Ahh!! Then I struggled to do my tut and stuff all afternoon and basically I am so tired. ANd it is midnight now!!!! I just haven't gone to bed yet!!! What the helll?!?
I don't understand myself sometimes. ANyway, I just thought I would say hi for this week as I doubt I will make it back during the week,

Ok, my day ...
I had clinical at a nursing home so even though it was a dodgy place and stuff I was more confident and comfortable and enjoyed it better. :)
I had a talk with the guy I am doing a tutorial with on Monday and the part that he was going to do has no information so he is going to take half of my section. ANd I have already done half so I am set. Excellent!!!
I had a good long chat with some 2nd years and they ahve really helped and encouraged me. There is hope. I am getting connections and things are going to start happening around here. Excellent!!!! banquets, Vespers, trips to the city. Life is going to get exciting soon. :)
I got credit!!!!
I am coming to Avondale on Firday night for First Church and hopefully for the concert on Saturday night. Hopfeully. We will just have to see.
And that everyone ahs been my excellent and wonderful day. :)

Howdy all,
Well, how is life treating ya?
I am doing ok. Just classes and studies and classes and studies.
Oh, I did get to go up to Avondale for the weekend. First Church, church at Gateway and Closing Sabbath were all great stuff. Had a surprise birthday party for Andre H. and Becky D. which was good. Didn't work at all so I had a very nice break. Ahh.
Went to the Romeo and Juilet at the highschool but I think the other group from 1st semester in the Crucible did a lot better.
I have studying tons because I have 2 50mins tutorials to prepare and 3 other assignments to do. So basically every subject of mine has something due in the next two weeks. Hopefully I can get through it all.
I watched the latest Peter Pan tonight. How silly of me. I also most started crying at the end. All the way though the movie Peter has been showed as this character who loves Wendy and wants to be part of a family and when he does have the opportunity he passes it up because he doesn't want to grow up. How stupid and so typical of humans (I thought I wouldn't say males as that would just offend too many people). We want something so much it gives us misery when we don't have it yet when we are given the opportunity we pass up because we are too scared, or too comfortable in what we know or something like that. Can't people get over their pride and try something new or actually go for what they want more than anything in the entire world?
Anyway, that is my little say for the day. I am sorry this blog isn't more interesting.
Miss ya,
Sharona

| My life update |
| 09.15.04 (7:36 pm) [edit] |
|
Where to begin.... I can't believe that I used to say that nothing happens at the SAN. There is som uch going on.
I went on our Nursing Retreat. It was ok but a bit clicky. A bit like highschool. Oh well....
Classes - boring
Went to Cooranbong on the the weekend for work and social life. Pretty good. Got to catch up with a lot of people and see a cool drama in 1st Church. Came back Sat afternoon with the Avondale bus and friends and picked up some nurses and travelled down to Manly and Palm Beach and Sydney Opera House etc. etc. Got to hang out and have fun which is always fun - duh!!
Taylor, Casey and Becky stayed the night and in the morning we prepared for almost 20 people from Avondale tot come and visit. It was a gret day - movies, tours, Taylor's cooking, games, and fun. I would love to do it again some time. Maybe for Kel's birthday on the 13 of Nov this year. That may work.
More classes - more boring.
Went with Kel today for her discogram. They stuck needles in her to measure the pain and where is comes from etc. Everyone was so nice. I was there to hold her hand but I was hopeless at that. I will tell you the worse emotional feeling in the world. Having someone you love go through terrible pain and ther is nothing you can do for them. I got really upset when she started screaming so I was send out and just cried and cried in the hallway. A really nice mid 50s lady came up to me and asked me if I wanted a hug. Compete stranger and didn't even work there. She was another patient. I just clung onto her and cried and cried. It was so scary and just awful. I could still hear Kel from the outside the room and down the hallyway a bit with the door closed and everyothing. Then Yolanda came and after Kel had finished and rested and we all had some food to make us feel a bit better. Then we came home. Kel is in bed now on painkillers. And I sure am proud of her.
So that is all my life at the moment. :)
P.S. In the space of 5days I have 2 50mins and an assignment. That is in less than a forenight so I should go get started.
Miss ya all

Hey everyone,
I got my learners!!!! I got two wrong and i was only allowed four wrong. It was pretty stressful. But I was super suprised when it finished. It didn't take very long at all. Madness!!!
I now have ID other than my passport. Wicked!!!
It was pretty easy too. And I don't know why I didn't get it done early. Yes, all my Mel friends are going to love the fact that I said that but oh well.
Now comes the hard bit: learning to drive. My aim is to get my Ps by my 20s birthday or just after. I will go to driving school and Yolanda's mum said she could teach me a lot too. Madness!!!
How super exciting!!!
See ya later

| Bad habit |
| 09.07.04 (4:04 am) [edit] |
|
Oh no, I am getting into a bad habit. I am going days without checking my blog. Oh this is terrible. I am so sorry my wonderful faithful fans (Yes, I know, I don't really have faithful fans, not that I would blame them, but at least I can pretend).
Kel and Kylie Anne and I have been shopping for this weekend. We have so much food it is unbelievable. I can't believe how much. We took a suitcase and two bags and we still have five or six more plastic bags to carry as well. It was hard yakka as we missed both the bus and the train but we made it eventually. :) :D
Have a busy weekend coming up. I have to travel down to Cooranbong on Friday so i can work Saturday. I must catch the Avondale bus straight back (with the group that is going to see the city by night). Becky, Taylor and Casey are coming too. Will have a fun time seeing Sydney and hanging with Avondalians. Get up early to start preparing fo the everyone on Sunday. I pray it goes really well. Never done this before so have no idea what the outcome is. There are at least 5 people who can't come already and there are bound to be more. In that was a car as well so I am hoping no one will get stuck out at Avondale who actually wants to come out here.
Then I have an assignment due ton the Monday so basically I need to finish it on the Friday before I leave so it isn't hanging over my head for the weekend.
I am also going for my Ls licence on Thursday. oh so very nervous. Everyone tells me I chould pass but I really hope so. Fingers crossed, huh? :D
Anyway, that is about all the news.
Oh, the Nursing Retreat was ok. Not the greatest but not he worse either. I didn't go on the big swing but I did go on the high ropes course. That was pretty good as I don't do any of that stuff usually. :)
Got a email from a friend who is over in England right now. How awesome! Enjoy it for me Margie and Jess!! :D
Just been decorating my wall. Should be studying but nah. Hint hint: lots of comments this weekend Avondalians.
See ya,
Sharona

Howdy all,
Sorry, I have been away for so long. I have been on holidays and then recovering from holidays and just got out fo the habit. Please, don't feel unloved. Please. Ok, well, let me tell what i have been up:
Two weeks ago Friday: traveled up to Avondale Saw everyone had good opening Sabbath and First Church (Bruce Manners took it I think - not too bad if I remember correctly - for those of you who don't know, Bruce is now Avondale's new senior pastor)
Saturday: Had church at Gateway Daniel Reyoud took it on Judges 3 - quite good but discovered he had tamed it down quite a lot for a good clean church sermon Socialised and read down near the swinging brigde A group of us went and feed the kangaroos (pretty tame and pretty intimidating - but tons of fun) Went to the Reggie Night (college social with Reggie music, duh!) It was tons of fun with quite a bit of socialising and exercise
Sunday: Brunch - always fun handed in an article to the Voice (college student publication) about how crappy the San is pretended to study but got distracted oh so easily. tea
Monday: found out I was roostered on from Mon to Wed at work (just tell me half an hour after I am suppose to start so i am running late for the rest of the shift) Work - even though it was work it was good to see all the residents - they are so cool :) Studied most of the afternoon Had tea with uncle Don, Becky, Kristin, Chris and Nan
Tuesday: Work Fire Lecture for two hours - pretty informative about RACE and fire and stuff (now, why is this not suprising?) Lunch - almost dying by the time I had lunch - 3 pm Socialise - wouldn't have been a good holiday if I didn't do that at all
Wednesday Work Lunch Socialise Tea Sac Cafe (another Avondale social event - first proper one I have gone to and the whole gang was there, Casey got up and told some really corny jokes and it was just pain fun. Adele and Taylor are going to start up a rock group for Jesus (just jk), and Chris and I got to freak Kristin out so much (we work good as a team even with no real practice)
Thursday I did get an opportunity to work Thurs and Fri but when I realised that would mean working 7days in a row I made the decision that my holiday wasn't worth the money Sat outside under the Sharona Tree from 8:30am to 5pm Got so sunburnt but that is ok No work and no study Didn't even read because people were always coming by
Friday (holiday almost over) Slept in to 9am (wouldn't have been a proper holiday without a bit of a sleep in) Helped Nan with Prep Day (friday) Studied Tea Opening Sabbath Homecoming Vespers - good but sermon was all over the place like a dogs breakfast
Saturday Work Lunch with Nan Talked on the phone to Brandon for a while (Yipee) Went searching for free stuff around the dorm and found tons and tons Went to Rus' 21st birthday party - played Spotlight, had great food, tons of people and just had tons of fun
Sunday Didn't work Went to Dieter's surprise 21st birthday party (don't know which I was hoping for most - him punching someone because he had asked everyone NOT to do anything for his birthday or him actually appreciated it for once - ended up being the second) We had pancakes and games and tons of socialising - lasted from 8 to 12:30am and the birthday boy stayed around for all that time - kinda strange at the moment as he has been a bit of a herbit of late. Packed and ran errors and said goodbyes Traveled back to SAH Early night to try and recover from holidays
Monday Woke up at 6am and couldn't go back to sleep properly - what the hell? Class (boring as ever) Had a special meeting from the Royal College of Nursing (which I think i have told everyone about but just in case ...). They are run by nurses for nurses. Every nurse is a member but it is extra good for student nurses because they pay half the fee and they have tons of stuff available for our assignments (even memtors if we need them or act extra dumb to get the "hot" tutors - you never know, past nurses have done worse). We get free stuff as well e.g. Tshirt and fobwatch. So even though i am technically suppose to have a fobwatch now I could wait another two years for one as we receive it from them when we graduate. I know it is the cheaper way but who wants two? Really? In the afternoon kel and I agreed to be the worship team (after being under the false impression that we were going to be in a choir - communication, people!!!) for the nursing retreat this weekend at Mangrove. We are basically going to be the only people singing up the front. There are three guys on giators and a chick on piano and that is it!!! I have been practicing my no so great singing voice. I have wanted to do this for so long yet have been too gutless for so long. Please pray for me. Because Kel had tons of music we have also been placed in charge of music e.g. getting a music book together first for the this weekend and then a bit bigger for our chapel music. That has been the fun part.
Tuesday Class - boring but short Finished assignment due the next day Prayer group - what gets me though the week - it was great as always - almost went for two hours yet again
Wednesday Class - boring Went to Avondale Stopped at the RTA on the way and have booked myself to get my Learners. Now I just have to learn the book back to front and inside out and pass the test and it will all be fine Got to Avondale because Yolanda hadn't been back and it was Festival of Faith (or week of prayer or what ever you want to call it) so we decided to come down and visit. I have to admit we got a few raised eyebrows from some people as we had only left two days before this. I sometimes think people don't want us to come back but that is just the impression I get. It was great - got to social and get some good spiritual food - the san lacks in providing that (our prayer group was started up by a member of our class)
Thursday Went for my wardsman job interview. It went ok. Basically the lady said that since I got into nursing ok I should be fine on the wards and as long as I apply for another job as well I can be casual for both and it should be all good. Kinda confusing but ok. There was no real research done concerning me. I just keep thinking :what if I had a back problem like Kel and people just keep thinking that the past people had given a through check when really they hadn't? Communication, people!!!!
No class or lab or clinical as Yolanda and I had (last term) did our lab and clinical on the same day so we could take Kel to the neurosurgeon Thursday afternoon. Had a few scares with losing diaries, getting a bit lost, not finding parking and discovering we had to cough up another $100 for the consulation fee (communication, people~!!!!!! Man alive!! Not again!!!). Well, I don't know about Yolanda and Glover but I was a nervous wreak (as you can well imagine) when Kel went it. I was so certain that she would either have to leave or have a huge bill to pay for surgery. Well, it was tons tons tons better than we could ever have dreamed. She is going to have surgery and is going to replace two disks and have a mental plate put in her back. This involves a 3 to 5 night stay in hospital. But if she goes in the public hospital it is all covered by Medicare and Kel won't have to pay a thing concerning the surgery. There are a few things like consulation and a needle to pinpoint where the pain is coming from which will cost a bit but it is no where as much as we had been dreading. Kel gets to stay. She is going to make the best nurse in the world. Thank you Lord. Prayer works!!!! So we celebrated by calling tons of people, and getting takeaway Pizza and cheap desert and borrowing a DVD from the library (cheap but that is ok). I am so happy.
Tomorrow We will have class and then midafternoon we are heading off to our nursing retreat. it should be so good. And I think my voice should be fine. I am over the mooon that Kel gets to stay so I will have tons to praise god about. So the weekend retreat will go for the weekend - Duh!!
Then I will be back at school and next weekend I have to travel down to Cooranbong for work and be back here for an special visit from certain Avondale students who will take us to the beach and see the city by night etc. and then Sunday we are having a huge group (25 approx.) of our friends from Avondale come out for the day to eat, drink and watch movies and go swimming. Madness.
Have any of you read What is so Amazing about Grace? I would strongly recommend it. It is really good. I haven't finished it yet but I am finding it really good at the moment.
Ok, I am falling asleep here and I haven't even packed for the weekend.
I love you all, miss you and hope you have a great weekend,
Sharona
